In a new development in the Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash suicide case, his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, who was arrested after several days as a fugitive, has categorically denied her former husband’s allegations of harassment. During police questioning, Nikita claimed that, on the contrary, it was Atul who subjected her to harassment.
Atul Subhash, from Bihar’s Samastipur, alleged harassment by his wife and in-laws, which he claimed drove him to take such a drastic measure.
Nikita Singhania shared that she had been living separately from her former husband, Atul, for almost three years. She reasoned that she would not have stayed away from him if she had harassed him for money.
Bengaluru police recently arrested Nikita Singhania from Gurugram. Nikita’s mother, Nisha, and brother, Anurag, were arrested from Prayagraj. Following their arrests, all three were brought to Bengaluru and produced in court.
Nikita Singhania (29), her mother Nisha Singhania, and younger brother Anurag Singhania (27) were remanded to 14-day judicial custody. Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Sushil Singhania, Nikita Singhania’s uncle, who was also accused in the case.
Atul Subhash, aged 34, was found dead in his flat on Monday. A 24-page suicide note was found with the phrase “Justice is due” inscribed at the beginning of each page. A 90-minute video featuring Subhash went viral on social media, prompting widespread discussion among users about the misuse of laws in society.
In the video, the techie cited domestic troubles as the reason behind his death, including eight false police complaints and an allegedly biased family court judge in Jaunpur. Atul had stated in his note that his in-laws were harassing him and demanding money. He also apologised to his parents for failing to take care of them in their old age.
Atul’s family expressed disappointment over the system stating that there are laws in the country for women, not men. Atul had alleged that his wife’s family had demanded Rs 3 crore as a divorce settlement.
In his suicide note and video, Atul claimed he married Nikita in 2019 after meeting her on a matchmaking website. Subhash alleged that Nikita and her family frequently demanded large sums of money to start businesses. When he refused, tensions escalated, leading Nikita to leave their home in 2021, taking their son with her.

Atul further alleged that in 2022, Nikita filed multiple cases against him and his family, accusing them of cruelty, dowry harassment, and even murder.
