Vikrant Massey is currently enjoying positive feedback for his performance in the drama film The Sabarmati Report. Helmed by Dheeraj Sarna and backed by Ekta Kapoor, the film also features Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in the lead roles. The film is Vikrant’s first theatrical release after the grand success of his biographical drama film 12th Fail, which hit the theatres in October last year.
Recently, during an interview with NDTV, the actor reacted to the chatter about 12th Fail not being able to create buzz as it was not headlined by a big star. Previously, actress Taapssee Pannu also made a similar comment during a 2021 Netflix roundtable about Haseen Dillruba, which also featured Massey, that “who played the hero didn’t matter in the film.”
Responding to these comments, the actor stated that he wasn’t offended by such statements made by his co-actors. Also, acknowledging that 12th Fail didn’t have a big star, he added that although he received positive feedback for his performance, the film didn’t emerge to be a massive box-office success.
“On the commercial front, I didn’t even have a strong solo feature hit theatres before 12th Fail. So, I know that such words were not stated in a condescending way,” said Vikrant.
Furthermore, the actor emphasised the importance of healthy discussions and conversations among co-actors and artists. “We should healthily agree to disagree. Unfortunately, we see friendships breaking down on social media and in real life as a result of conflicting political ideas and tolerance levels. You can’t seem to agree to disagree anymore. That’s disturbing,” he added.
Meanwhile, talking about Vikrant’s latest release The Sabarmati Report, the film has been receiving overwhelming responses from the audience. The film is based on the tragic Sabarmati train incident of February 27, 2002, in Gujarat.
After this, Vikrant Massey will reportedly be next seen in director Rajkumar Hirani’s debut web series. However, details related to the projects have been kept under wraps. Recent reports also suggest that the actor might also be seen playing a negative role in Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated Don 3, which features Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
