Eric Garcia hailed the importance of Barcelona’s win over Leganes after Hansi Flick’s side won 1-0 at Butarque in La Liga on Saturday.
The versatile star was back in the starting XI as the Catalans picked up a crucial win that sends Flick’s men seven points clear at the top of the table.
Garcia spoke to the media afterwards and felt it was a crucial victory:
“The coach had already told us about the results they get against the top teams. They played a very good game. In the first half, they hurt us on the counterattack; in the end, what matters in these games is the three points,” he said.
“In the first round, they beat us at home. We knew that if we won, we’d put a lot of pressure on.
“These are the games where LaLiga is won. We were on a good run, and today we were able to increase our lead, which is what we wanted.”
“It’s non-stop, let’s hope Balde doesn’t suffer too much. But we’re all fired up, as we saw today when Gerard Martín came on. Now that it’s finals, we’re all very fired up.”
Barcelona now switch focus back to the Champions League and will hope to seal a semi-final spot in midweek by finishing the job against Dortmund.
