The tech sector has seen several noteworthy developments this week, with several new smartphones making their debut in the market. From Google Pixel 9a to OPPO F29 Pro 5G, here’s everything the tech sector witnessed this week.

OPPO F29 Pro 5G launched in India

Oppo F29 Pro 5G and F29 5G

were both released on March 20 in India. The phones’ Hunter Antenna Architecture and AI LinkBoost Technology boost signal strength. They are military-grade MIL-STD-810H-2022 certified and have a 360-degree armour body.

In addition to supporting underwater photography, the phones are reportedly water and dustproof, with IP66, IP68, and IP69 classifications. A Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset powers the base Oppo F29 5G, while a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC powers the F29 Pro variant. The 8GB + 128GB model of the Oppo F29 5G costs 23,999, while the 8GB + 256GB model costs 25,000.

Google Pixel 9a launched in India

On March 19, the Google Pixel 9a was introduced in India and other countries. The latest model in the company’s midrange “a” series has a 48MP primary rear camera and the same Tensor G4 chip that made its debut with the Pixel 9 series last year.

The Pixel 9a comes in four colourways. It packs a 5,100mAh battery, which is claimed to offer over 30 hours of battery life on a single charge. The Pixel 9a runs on Android 15, and Google says the handset will receive seven years of OS and security updates.

In India, the Google Pixel 9a retails for 49,999 and comes in one model with 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage. Colour choices include Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain.

vivo Y19e launched in India

The Chinese company’s latest Y series smartphone, the vivo Y19e, has made its debut in India. With two colour options and a single 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option, the most recent model is an affordable alternative.

The Unisoc T7225 CPU powers the vivo Y19e, which also has a 13MP dual rear camera configuration with AI support. A 5,500mAh battery and a 6.74-inch display are highlights of the vivo Y19e. It is built to withstand water and dust thanks to its IP64 rating.

The vivo Y19e, which is the only 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model available in India, costs 7,999. Titanium Silver and Majestic Green are the colour options available. You can buy it from major retail outlets, Flipkart, and the Vivo India e-store.

HP Omen 16 Slim gaming laptop unveiled

On March 18, during the HP Amplify 2025 conference, HP revealed the Omen 16 Slim gaming laptop. Compared to the standard Omen 16 model, the new laptop has a smaller design, as the name implies. The laptop can be set up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU and an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor (Intel Arrow Lake CPUs).

With the same CPU and GPU as the Omen 16 Slim, the company has also updated the Omen Transcend 14 gaming laptop. The HP Omen 16 Slim and Omen Transcend 14’s pricing and availability have not yet been disclosed.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) launches 5G in Mumbai

India’s 5G services were introduced by Vodafone Idea (Vi) on March 18. The telecom provider’s 5G network has launched in Mumbai, and it is anticipated that Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, and Punjab will follow suit.

Furthermore, the company has launched a website that describes its 5G connectivity and showcases the new postpaid and prepaid plans that customers can now buy to access the Internet service. It is important to note that Vi is providing all of its 5G plans with unlimited 5G data.

realme P3 Ultra 5G launched in India alongside realme P3 5G

In India, the realme P3 5G and the realme P3 Ultra 5G were revealed on March 19. The base model has a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, while the Ultra model is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultra SoC.

Batteries with a capacity of 6,000mAh power both devices, with the Ultra model supporting 80W AI bypass charging. In addition, the realme P3 Ultra has a rear panel that glows in the dark using a starlight ink method.

The 8GB + 128GB realme P3 Ultra 5G model costs 26,999 in India, while the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB models cost 27,999 and 29,999, respectively.
