Salman Khan‘s much-hyped action drama Sikandar has wrapped up its first week at the domestic box office with collections totalling an estimated Rs 97.50 crore—just shy of the ₹100 crore milestone. Despite a strong opening, the film has failed to sustain its initial momentum and now risks joining the ranks of the actor’s underperforming titles.
Sikandar Movie Review
Released strategically on a Sunday to capitalise on the Eid holiday, Sikandar opened with a solid Rs 26 crore. Business peaked on Eid with Rs 29 crore, fuelling early hopes of a blockbuster run. However, the film witnessed a steady decline in the days that followed. Tuesday brought in Rs 19.5 crore, but collections dropped significantly thereafter—Rs 9.75 crore on Wednesday, ₹6 crore on Thursday, Rs 3.5 crore on Friday, and an estimated Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday. The underwhelming Saturday performance dashed hopes of hitting Rs 100 crore within the opening week. However, trade analysts expect Sikandar to cross the figure on Day 8, provided it holds steady through the weekend.
Poll
How would you rate Salman Khan’s performance in ‘Sikandar’?
While the first-week numbers are still ahead of Salman Khan’s recent outings—Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 91.21 crore), Antim (Rs 29.35 crore), Jai Ho (Rs 88.78 crore), Ready (Rs 68.02 crore), and Dabangg (Rs 81 crore)—they remain underwhelming considering Sikandar’s estimated Rs 200 crore budget.
The film’s downward trajectory has prompted concern among industry watchers, especially in contrast to Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which has dominated the box office with a staggering Rs 600 crore+ haul.
With the weekend performance under scrutiny, all eyes are now on whether Sikandar can regain footing or fade further from box office glory.
