Shashi Kapoor’s son, Karan Kapoor, made a rare public appearance on Randhir Kapoor’s birthday and left the internet in a frenzy. He was seen posing alongside Neetu Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor, and fans couldn’t stop gushing over the former actor and model. The 1980s heartthrob made his Bollywood debut with the 1978 film, Junoon, written and directed by Shyam Benegal. After a brief stint in Bollywood, Karan moved to the UK in 1988 and became a photographer. Seeing the public’s frenzy over Karan’s recent appearance, will he make a comeback in Bollywood?
In a 2016 interview with Rediff, Karan Kapoor was asked if he would like to make a comeback in the movies. He replied, “I would love to. But I don’t know if anyone wants to see me!” Karan Kapoor used to be a popular actor in the 1980s. After starring in Junoon with Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Jennifer Kendal and Naseeruddin Shah, he made his mainstream debut in the 1986 film, Sultanat. The film also featured Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla. As an actor, he appeared in five films, including Junoon, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Sultanat, Loha and Afsar. He was also a popular model, made famous by the Bombay Dyeing ad campaign.
Karan Kapoor is the son of Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kapoor. He was born on January 18, 1962, in Mumbai. He has two siblings- brother Kunal Kapoor and sister Sanjana Kapoor. While Kunal also followed Shashi Kapoor’s footsteps briefly and acted in several Bollywood films, Sanjana Kapoor runs the Prithvi Theatre.
After a small stint in Bollywood, Karan Kapoor moved to the UK in 1988 and started a career in photography. He is now an award-winning photographer and runs a photography business based in London. He is a father of two, a daughter Aliya Kapoor and a son Zak Kapoor, whom he shares with ex-wife Lorna Kapoor. Not much is known about Aliya and Zak. Lorna is a former British model. Fans were excited to see Karan Kapoor with sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor at Randhir Kapoor’s 78th birthday celebration on February 15, Saturday.
