The beta first kicked off in May for the Galaxy S25 series in Germany, Korea, the UK, and the US, and is built on Android 16. It brings a more intuitive, AI-powered experience designed to make Galaxy devices feel smarter and more personal.
Features like Now Bar and Now Brief offer real-time suggestions, while upgrades to multitasking, on-device security (Knox Vault), and useful tweaks like Auracast audio sharing and a revamped Reminder app help streamline everyday use.
Starting next week, the beta will be available for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold6, and Z Flip6 in India, Korea, the US, and the UK. By September, more devices will be added, including the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and several A-series phones like the A36 5G, A55 5G, A35 5G, and A54. Users can sign up through the Samsung Members app.
Samsung is betting big on multimodal AI — tech that understands what you’re doing in real time and responds more naturally. For instance, if you’re wearing Galaxy Buds3 or Buds3 Pro, you can activate Google’s Gemini assistant with a voice command or a long press on the earbuds.
The final version of One UI 8 will roll out starting September, beginning with the Galaxy S25 series and gradually reaching other supported devices. The update will also extend to Galaxy smartwatches, with One UI 8 Watch set to bring improved health features and a cleaner interface to more models beyond the Watch8 series later this year.
Currently, the final version of the One UI 8 is only available on latest Samsung Galaxy devices including the Z Fold7 and the Z Flip7.
