The remastered version of SaGa Frontier 2 was unveiled at the Nintendo Direct stream held on Thursday, March 27.
SaGa Frontier 2 was originally a PlayStation exclusive. Square Enix, the developer of Saga Frontier 2 Remastered, has retained the signature watercolour graphics, and deep strategic battles of the original game. The company has described the new version as “a significantly improved version of an already great game”.

The remastered version enhances SaGa Frontier 2’s gameplay with updated visuals and UI, new events, additional playable characters and more, the company said. SaGa Frontier 2 revolves around two protagonists: Gustave, a royal heir unable to cast spells and William Knights, a fledgling adventurer.

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered: Original storyline explained
The storyline of the classic RPG cuts through the intertwined narratives centered around the two main characters. Players will explore two narrative arcs that will advance simultaneously and sometimes cross paths in the course of the game’s progression. Square Enix has also added new story events to SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. ‘Quality-of-life improvements’ is another addition to the game.
SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered: Post-game content
Square Enix promises “loads” of post-game content in the remastered version of SaGa Frontier 2. Players will be able to unlock several completely new events after finishing the game. They can also “fight enhanced bosses as extra battle content”, the developer states on its website.
SaGa Frontier 2: New stories In remastered version
One of the new stories added in SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is ‘The Joining of Kelvin and Marie’. Another brand-new story included in the game is ‘Labelle’s Wish’. The new version will also feature reconstructed ‘History Choice and Chronology’, which Square Enix claims will make the particular interface easier to understand.
Square Enix introduces quality-of-life changes
The developers have also introduced new speed settings as part of the quality-of-life changes in the remastered version of SaGa Frontier 2. The speed settings will enable players to play through battles, view event scenes, and explore the overworld at a greater pace. The players will also be allowed to shift objects to and from storage. Square Enix says the new feature will make it easier for players to organise their inventory.
