Now, as the government is making moves towards banning diesel engines in the country, we have already informed you that a turbo petrol engine for these two SUVs will be on the cards of the automaker. However, there has been no news from the brand, as it has been focusing on the launch of the upcoming electric version of the Harrier. So, is the petrol Harrier & Safari really coming?

According to the Industry rumours, Tata Motors has affirmed that the petrol versions of Safari and Harrier are in the pipeline. The new petrol SUVs will be launched in this financial year. Talking about the mechanical details, the SUV is expected to be powered by a new 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine, capable of producing 168bhp and 280Nm that has been in the works. However, Tata already has a 1.2-litre TGDi engine producing 118bhp & 170Nm of torque. Transmission duties are expected to be handled by a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox in the new petrol SUVs.

Once launched, this upgrade will be considered as significant for the Harrier and the Safari. Moreover, the new petrol engine powered Harrier & Safari will also get a price difference, expected of around Rs 1 lakh from the diesel models considering the variants and transmission options. However, for more details over these new models, we would need to wait for the brand to announce something!

Tata Motors will be revealing the prices for the all new Harrier EV in the coming month. The new model will be an flagship model on offer from the brand. The electric SUV is expected to have a range of around 450 km and offer around 500Nm of peak torque. The model debuts with dual motor QWD (Quad Wheel Drive tech) and other similar techs.
