The new chief minister was announced after the key legislative party meeting of BJP leaders concluded on Wednesday evening. Top BJP leader, including 48 MLA-elects, reached the BJP office in Delhi to attend the meet on Wednesday.

Who is Rekha Gupta, Delhi’s New CM?
It’s Rekha Gupta. BJP’s Rekha Gupta had secured victory in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly Constituency, defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a margin of 29,595 votes in the 2025 Delhi Assembly Election.
Since the BJP won a thumping majority in Delhi, many BJP leaders have emerged as potential chief ministers.
The top contenders included Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh), Vijender Gupta (Rohini), Satish Upadhyay (Malviya Nagar), Ashish Sood (Janakpuri), Pawan Sharma (Uttam Nagar), and Ajay Mahawar (Ghonda), are also among CM contenders.
Delhi CM oath-taking ceremony on Feb 20
To mark the beginning of the BJP’s governance in the national capital, preparations are in full swing for the grand oath-taking ceremony of the new Delhi Chief Minister on Thursday, February 20. The grand event will take place at Ramlila Maidan and a large number of people are expected to participate.
The swearing-in ceremony will be a high-profile event, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet, and Chief Ministers from various states in attendance.
In Delhi assembly elections, BJP secured 48 seats out of 70 seats, while the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party won 22 seats. For the third successive time, Congress could not open its account.
