A gym-goer at Planet Fitness was shocked to discover a no-jackets policy at the workout chain.
The runner, who goes by Camrun on TikTok, posted a video to share his frustration over the policy shortly before the New Year.
He explained that he used his jacket to cover the time and distance display on a treadmill while running at the gym.
After running for nearly an hour, an employee told him he was breaking the rules by leaving his jacket on the machine.
‘The worker comes up to me after 40 minutes and says, “hey we actually have a no jacket and no bag policy,”‘ the runner said in the clip, which had been viewed more than 350,000 times as of Thursday morning.
He noted that the employee never took his jacket away after telling him it needed to take it to the front desk.
The runner, who said he exercises at Planet Fitness regularly, insisted he’d never heard of the policy until then.
However, the rule is a requirement for all gym-goers.

The policy, which can be found on Planet Fitness’ website, states that personal belongings ‘must be kept in lockers.’
Planet Fitness members are required to keep their bags and unused clothing off of gym floors.
The company explained in its rules that items on the gym floor could be safety hazards and targets for theft.
Several viewers who watched the video also expressed shock that the policy existed.
‘I bring my bag every time! I have so many things in that bag that help me work out,’ one TikToker commented.
‘It’s wild they messed with you.’
Others claimed that enforcement depends on the gym and that the employee may have brought it up because their manager was being a ‘Karen.’
‘I think it’s from gym to gym. Cause my PF honestly doesn’t care – people have their bags and jackets with them all the time,’ one wrote.
Daily Mail has reached out to Planet Fitness for comment.

Various Reddit users who already knew about the policy understood why Planet Fitness may have created it.
‘More or less clothing and bags on the floor create a tripping hazard and also jackets and things hanging on machines cause damage,’ a Reddit user wrote in a 2023 post.
‘At my gym we had a guys string backpack get caught up in a treadmill. Not a great day for anyone involved.’
Others didn’t understand ‘why it matters’ if jackets are not in the way.
‘There’s literally no way anyone could have stepped on my stuff. To think that someone would be pissed at me for this is ridiculous to me,’ a Planet Fitness member wrote.
