Pahalgam attack live updates: ‘Pakistanis not allowed’ poster comes up on food street in MP’s Indore

Shopkeepers at the famous `56 Dukan’ food street in Indore city have put up a poster against Pakistan to protest the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.

“Pigs & Pakistani citizens are not allowed at Chappan Dukan,” read the message in English on the poster.

It also featured a photo of a uniformed Pakistani army officer with a pig’s mouth superimposed on the face.

Congress leader Mumtaz Patel said that there was a security lapse in Pahalgam attack, but also expressed hope for a strong government action.

“We are all united and we will support whatever decision the central government takes…This incident should not have happened. There was a security lapse, and we could have done better…We are hopeful that the government will take strong action,” Patel told ANI.

Chairperson of Delhi State Haj Committee, Kausar Jahan, backed the central government, saying she is confident that appropriate action will be taken against the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack.

“We know that Pakistan is behind this attack…They will get such a punishment that generations will remember it…There is no place in Islam for such people…The entire nation is united against this attack…I am confident that the government will give a befitting reply to them,” Jahan told ANI.

Hyderabad markets remained shut on Friday as traders observed a bandh over the Pahalgam terror attack, PTI reported.

According to a statement by the ministry of civil aviation, three flights carrying close to 500 tourists stranded in J&K after the Pahalgam attack have been operated free of cost to Mumbai. The third flight will land on Friday evening.

Lt General RP Kalita (Retired) has said that the Pahalgam attacks were done to incite communal violence in India.

“This basically promotes some kind of communal violence because we all know that tourists were first asked about their religion, and then they were killed. I think this was done with a plan to incite communal violence within India,” he told ANI.

Traders and people in Pahalgam protested against the terrorist attack.

“The idea behind what has happened is to divide society, and it’s crucial that every Indian stands united and defeats what the terrorists are trying to do. It’s sad to see that some people are attacking my brothers and sisters from Kashmir and the rest of the country. It’s essential to stand united and together to fight this nasty action and defeat terrorism once and for all,” Gandhi said.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said that he came to J&K to get a sense of what is going on and to help.

“I came here to get a sense of what is going on and to help. The entire people of Jammu and Kashmir have condemned this terrible action, and they’ve fully supported the nation. I met one of the people who was injured…My love and affection to everybody who has lost family members, and I want everybody to know that the whole nation is standing together as one. We had a meeting yesterday with the government, and the United Opposition condemned this action and said that we are there to support whatever action the government wants to take. The idea behind what has happened is to divide society, to make brother fight brother. And it is very important that every single Indian stands united, stands together, so that we can defeat what the terrorists were trying to do,” he was quoted by ANI as saying.
