Neeraj Chopra in Doha Diamond League 2025, Javelin Throw Highlights: India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra made history on Friday as he became the first-ever Indian to breach the elusive 90m mark in javelin, competing at the 2025 Doha Diamond League. After several close attempts in the past, Neeraj finally breached the 90m barrier, on his third attempt of the night, with a stunning throw of 90.23m. Despite leading up to the final round, Neeraj ended up finishing second as Germany’s Julian Weber broke his own personal best with a sensational throw of 91.06m. India also had more to be proud of, as Parul Chaudhary set a national record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

    Recently, Neeraj Chopra had been conferred honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army. The appointment, according to The Gazette of India, a weekly public journal and an authorised legal document of the Government of India, came into effect on April 16.  

    “No 3 (E) dated 9th May 2025 in exercise of the powers conferred by Para -31 of the Territorial Army Regulations, 1948, the president is pleased to confer on Ex- Sub Maj Neeraj Chopra, PVSM, Padma Shri, VSM, Village & Post Office Khandra, Panipat, Haryana with effect from 16 April, 2025,” a statement from Major General GS Choudhry, Joint Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, read.
