Meghan Trainor’s fitness journey
Trainor lost an impressive 60 pounds after being at her ‘heaviest’ post giving birth to her first son Riley. Describing herself as being in a really dark place at the time, the singer wanted to be in a great place for her son and thus began her slow but steady transformation.
“I was, like, over 200 pounds when I C-sectioned him out,” the “Been Like This” singer told ET Canada in 2022.
“I just wasn’t feeling great. I’ve never had stitches, so to have this C-section scar, I was in a really dark place and I wanted to be in a great place for my son.”
From shedding pounds one week at a time, to falling in love with healthy food and portions, the singer started finding ways that helped her get rid of those extra pounds.
“I worked [out] every day and challenged myself. I was very dedicated and I started seeing the pounds come off one week at a time, one pound. I was like, ‘I’m fighting.’” she told the outlet.
“I learned that I do like healthy food, and I learned what portions mean,” Trainor added. “My brain is so happy when I exercise.”
Lifting weights
Sharing her fitness routine on Today in December, the singer said lifting weights supported her weight loss efforts.
“I mean, look at those kids,” she said about her sons Riley, 4, and Barry, 1. “I’ve got to lift them up and chase them. I’m exhausted.”
She also shared that she tried to go to the gym three times a week. “I didn’t know lifting weights would change my life so much,” she added.
Protein intake
Meghan in an interview with Women’s Health said she consumed more protein to support her workouts.
Meghan said she ate two eggs and some organic turkey bacon for breakfast, while for lunches and dinners, Meghan and her husband go for recipes that pack in proteins and carbs.
