Chennai: The media and broadcasting fraternity in South India is in deep shock and mourning following the sudden demise of K Sriram, a highly respected industry veteran and former General Manager of Vijay TV. Sriram passed away earlier today due to a massive cardiac arrest.
A towering figure in the Tamil television industry, Sriram was most recently associated with the Kalaignar TV Network as an Individual Business Consultant. Since 2018, he had been working closely with the network’s top management, driving growth in viewership and revenue across its portfolio of channels.
In addition to his ongoing role, Sriram was preparing to launch a new devotional channel, Kavasam TV, where he was serving as the Managing Director.
Sriram’s most celebrated stint was his 16-year-long tenure at Vijay TV, where he helmed channel operations with full responsibility for content and revenue strategy. Under his leadership, the channel rose to prominence, becoming a strong No. 2 in the Tamil GEC space. He continued in this role until his exit from Star India in 2016.
His sudden and untimely demise has left an irreplaceable void. Industry peers and colleagues remember him as a visionary leader and a kind, generous soul who played a key role in shaping South Indian television broadcasting.
K Sriram is survived by his wife Jaishree and their son.
The South Indian media community salutes his contributions and mourns the loss of one of its most respected voices.
