The Association told the Court that while critics have every right to review movies, they must keep in mind that hatred towards a film should not be sown in the media because of personal malice.
It further argued that people are often employed to spread negative reviews about a particular film due to “past enmity or business rivalry” leading to a biased opinions even before the public gets a chance to watch it.
The petitioners said that due to such negative reviews, the integrity of the reviewing process itself is at stake and that film producers face huge losses.
