Amid the online criticism and backlash towards Kim Soo Hyun, his agency has announced legal action against malicious posts.

South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has been in a major controversy for a while now, owing to his past relationship with late actress Kim Sae Ron. With extreme claims made by Kim Sae Ron’s family, leading to major backlash towards the Queen of Tears actor, the matter still seems far from over. Amid immense public criticism and rumours making the rounds on the internet, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, GOLD MEDALIST, has warned of taking legal action against such malicious content toward him.
In a strong-worded statement, the company spoke at length against the circulating “malicious posts, comments, and false facts” about the actor. It asserted that the “groundless and speculative claims” are being spread indiscriminately, which has given the public a false impression and damaged the actor’s reputation. “Malicious slander, false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment are rampant on online community boards and social media and should not be taken lightly. We filed a complaint to the authorities on April 14 for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act based on fan reports and our own monitoring,” the statement added.
Gold Medalist also vowed to take legal action against overseas platforms. They called out the “so-called cyber wreckers,” whom they accused of exploiting anonymity to create fake news and cyberbullying-inducing videos and shorts. “As identities of such cyber wreckers are now being revealed and legal action is being taken, we too will respond firmly in coordination with overseas legal representatives against foreign platforms such as YouTube and X,” the statement continued.
The agency will be filing additional complaints against posts that have been defaming the actor’s reputation, vowing to protect his rights through strong legal measures.
Despite the criticism, loyal fans of Kim Soo Hyun have been showing their support in his defence, with the internet left divided. The actor continues to deny the claims of an underage relationship with Kim Sae Ron.
