Sundar Pichai’s love for cricket is no secret. The CEO of Alphabet and its subsidiary Google once shared his childhood dream of becoming a cricketer. So, it’s hardly surprising that he keeps tabs on the game and its players. Recently, Pichai reacted to a viral video featuring Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, who cheekily told a reporter to “Google” his batting skills. True to his tech roots, Pichai admitted he did just that! But it didn’t end there. Tesla boss Elon Musk also joined the conversation with a one-word comment.
“What is your assessment of the batting, although you are not the best person to answer the question, what do you think about the situation of the team, considering the conditions in Gabba?” the reporter asked Bumrah during a press conference.
Bumrah, who hit the most runs in a single over in Test cricket, said, “It’s an interesting question. But, you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over,” he quipped. He added with a laugh, “But, jokes apart. That’s another story.”

Sundar Pichai replied to this video and admitted, “I did Google it.”
He added, “Anyone who can hook Cummins for a six knows how to bat! Well done Jasprit Bumrah saving the follow-on with Deep!”

Even Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk couldn’t resist joining in, adding a concise four-letter comment. “Nice,” Musk wrote.
Pichai then suggested they watch a South Africa vs India match someday. “Gotta watch a SA-IND game one day at Newlands or Wanderers,” Pichai said.

Google India quoted the video and wrote, “I only believe in Jassi Bhai,” in admiration of Jasprit Bumrah’s impressive batting prowess.

In a separate post on X, the tech giant hailed Bumrah as a “game-changing” player. Alongside, they shared a screenshot of the Google search interface with the query, “Best Indian test bowler in Aus”.
The response read, “Jasprit Bumrah is now the most successful Indian bowler on Australian soil. The pacer now has 52 wickets Down Under, surpassing the great Kapil Dev’s tally of 51 wickets on Wednesday.”
