Jasleen Royal is seemingly unfazed by the criticism she’s getting from Bollywood about her performance with Coldplay.

Jasleen Royal had everyone’s attention when she opened for Coldplay’s shows in India last month. Many criticised her performance as “offbeat” and “out of tune,” with Vishal Dadlani calling it “embarrassing.” Recently, even Sona Mohapatra took a dig at Jasleen. However, Jasleen is seemingly unfazed by the criticism.
She took to Instagram on Wednesday to share photos from her favourite moments in the last few weeks. She captioned the post, “Counting my blessings. Beyond grateful 😇🥰.” Jasleen shared a photo with Coldplay’s Chris Martin in her post. She also shared a photo from her time at the Maha Kumbh and pictures with her family among others.

Jasleen’s post comes soon after Sona Mohapatra took a jibe at her performance with Coldplay. In a chat with Indie’N Folk Project, she said she doesn’t consider Jasleen an artist or performer. She added, “When the entire Jasleen controversy happened, and people said ‘she can’t sing’, it was all over the place. It was heartbreaking. It sounded terrible. It was such a huge stage and opportunity. It seemed like someone informed her last minute and there was no band or so, while in reality there were backing singers and a full-fledged band in place.”
Sona Mahapatra pointed out that corporations and labels often focus on views and followers instead of talent. She said, “It is a lack of foresight and backing merit when it comes to corporates and labels. Maybe you are a good songwriter, but it doesn’t mean that you are a good performer as well. Just because you have made a video with Dulquer (Salman), have received views… Corporates just see the number of views. Does it mean you are a good performer? No. There are much worthier performers. If there was an actual system of merit, that artiste…”
Sona paused to correct herself and took the word artiste back, she said, “No…” when the interviewer said the term “performer” for Jasleen, Sona refused that too and said, “No, that individual would never be on stage. The heartbreaking part is that the world caught it.” “It was a heartbreaking moment for all of us. We were not celebrating,” she said.
