Tesla is all set to open its showroom and launch its Model Y EV into the Indian market. The brand has been trying to enter the Indian car market for years, and they have finally had a breakthrough. However, the Model Y seems to be priced quite high, considering this is Tesla’s entry-level EV. When it was confirmed that Tesla is coming to India, speculations suggested that the Model Y could be priced around Rs 30 Lakh to Rs 35 Lakh. However, on Tesla’s website, the Model Y carries a price tag ranging from Rs 61.07 Lakh to Rs 69.15 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The Model Y is the entry-level Tesla EV, and it comes at a hefty price tag. Moreover, Tesla offers the Model Y with only a single colour option as standard, the Stealth Grey. The five other colour options are paid options, with the most expensive colour option going up to Rs 1.85 Lakh. Additionally, the brand only offers an all black interior as standard. If you want a dual-tone black and white interior, it costs Rs 95,000. As the Model Y is capable of driving itself, Tesla has offered a Full Self-Driving Capability pack worth Rs 6 Lakh.

If a buyer chooses the Long Range RWD model, which is priced at Rs 69.15 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and chooses all the optional extras including the Ultra Red colour, dual tone interior and the self-driving pack, the price goes up to Rs 78.03 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). At that price tag, you could get a BMW i4 or a Kia EV6. Moreover, its competitor is the BYD Sealion 7, is almost Rs 10 Lakh cheaper with a price tag ranging from Rs 51.82 Lakh to Rs 58.11 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The Tesla Model Y carries a hefty price tag as it is brought to India through the CBU route. The models that are showcased at the launch event have been brought in from China. If the Model Y were priced more competitively, it would attract more customers and could give its rivals a tough time. The Tesla Model Y is available in 2 variants: RWD (235bhp, 500km range) and Long Range RWD (335bhp, 622km range). The Model Y gets a tech-loaded cabin with a minimalistic design. The Tesla Model Y gets a 15.4-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-inch infotainment system for rear passengers, and much more.
