Honda Amaze 2024 debuts in India with ADAS tech, ₹7.99 lakh starting price

Honda Cars India, on Wednesday, introduced the third-generation Honda Amaze, with prices ranging from ₹7.99 lakh to ₹10.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated compact sedan, now available for test drives, will commence deliveries next month.

The new Amaze is powered by a familiar 1.2-litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine, delivering 90hp and 110Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission, with the latter featuring paddle shifters for added convenience. The new compact sedan comes with a standard 3-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 18.65 km/l for the manual variant and 19.46 km/l for the CVT. Unlike its competitors—the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor—the Amaze does not offer a factory-fitted CNG option, a feature that contributes significantly to sales in this segment. For instance, over 50% of Dzire sales and 80% of Aura sales are attributed to CNG variants.

Honda is offering the car in three variants, with their prices (ex-showroom) as follows. However, it should be noted that these are introductory prices and will be valid only for 45 days from today:

Variant
V Petrol-MT ₹7.99 lakh
V Petrol-CVT ₹9.20 lakh
VX Petrol-MT ₹9.10 lakh
VX Petrol-CVT ₹10.00 lakh
ZX Petrol-MT ₹9.70 lakh
ZX Petrol-CVT ₹10.90 lakh

The exterior of the new Amaze takes design cues from Honda’s Elevate SUV and City sedan, giving it a modern and cohesive look. Up front, it features a hexagonal grille and LED projector headlamps with integrated daytime running lights. The design is complemented by LED fog lamps and a sculpted bumper.

Dual-tone alloy wheels and a prominent character line running along the sides add to its sharp profile. At the rear, the wraparound LED taillights and a redesigned bumper further enhance its appeal. Honda states that the new Amaze’s increased width and height result in improved cabin space and better overall proportions.

Inside, the Amaze boasts a refreshed dashboard inspired by the Elevate, complete with a textured finish and a two-tone theme in black and beige. The infotainment system includes an 8-inch or 10.25-inch touchscreen, depending on the variant, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The sedan also features a wireless charger, rear AC vents, and push-button start/stop. Honda claims the redesigned air conditioning system offers improved cooling efficiency. Safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and Honda Sensing Level 2 ADAS, making the Amaze the most affordable car in India with an advanced driver assistance system.

With a boot capacity of 416 litres, the Amaze also focuses on practicality, catering to families and daily commuters. The sedan competes with the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor in the compact sedan segment.
