Here is how Maruti, Bajaj Auto, M&M and other auto stocks are faring today


Auto stocks remained mixed on Monday, June 2, as firms released their sales updates for the month of May.

The Nifty Auto was trading marginally higher by 0.09%. The index touched an intraday high of 23,372.75 and a low of 23,147.20.

Mahindra & Mahindra (1.54%), Bharat Forge (1.47%), MRF (1.32%), Eicher Motors (0.36%) and Exide Industries (0.25%) were among the top gainers in the sector.

While Hero MotoCorp (-1.82%), Samvardhana Motherson (-1.25%), Bajaj Auto (-1.21%), Tata Motors (-1.01%) and Balkrishna Industries (-0.89%).

Here is the auto sales update for May:

Maruti Suzuki: The country’s largest carmaker on Monday reported a 3% year-on-year increase in total sales at 180,077 units in May. It sold a total of 174,551 units in May 2024.

Total domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers stood at 135,962 units last month as compared with 144,002 units in the year-ago period, a dip of 6%.

Sales of mini-segment cars Alto and S-Presso declined to 6,776 units as against 9,902 units in the same month last year. Sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, also fell to 61,502 units as compared to 68,206 units in May 2024.

TVS Motor: TVS Motor Company reported a 17% year-on-year increase in total sales to 431,275 units in May. The company had reported a total sales of 369,914 units in May 2024.

Two-wheelers registered a growth of 16%, with sales increasing from 359,590 units in May 2024 to 416,166 units in May 2025.

The domestic two-wheeler segment registered a growth of 14%, with sales increasing from 271,140 units in May last year to 309,287 units in May 2025. Three-wheeler sales increased 46% year-on-year to 15,109 units in May.

Tata Motors: Tata Motors reported a 9% year-on-year decline in total sales at 70,187 units in May. The Mumbai-based auto major had reported total sales of 76,766 units in May 2024.

Domestic sales declined 10% year-on-year to 67,429 units, as compared to 75,173 units in the year-ago period. Total passenger vehicle sales declined 11% year-on-year to 42,040 units in May. Commercial vehicle sales stood at 28,147 units, as compared to 29,691 units, a dip of 5%.

Mahindra & Mahindra: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reported a 17% year-on-year increase in total sales at 84,110 units in May. In the utility vehicles segment, the Mumbai-based automaker sold 52,431 vehicles in the domestic market, a growth of 21%, as compared to 43,218 units in May last year.

The company said its tractor sales in the domestic market stood at 38,914 units last month, as against 35,237 units in May 2024.

Total tractor sales (domestic and exports) last month were at 40,643 units, as against 37,109 units for the same period last year.

Toyota: Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s sales increased 22% year-on-year to 30,864 units in May. The company’s wholesales to dealers in the domestic market stood at 29,280 units last month, while exports were at 1,584 units. In May 2024, TKM had sold a total of 25,273 units.

Hyundai: Hyundai Motor India’s total sales declined 8% year-on-year to 58,701 units in May. The company’s total sales stood at 63,551 units in May last year.

The automaker said its dispatches to dealers in the domestic market declined 11% to 43,861 units in May as compared with 49,151 units in the year-ago period. Exports stood at 14,840 units last month as against 14,400 units in May 2024.

Bajaj Auto: Pune-based Bajaj Auto reported 8% year-on-year growth in total sales, including exports, to 3,84,621 units in May. The automobile firm had recorded a total sales of 3,55,323 vehicles in May 2024.

Total domestic sales, including commercial vehicles stood at 2,25,733 units last month as compared with 2,25,087 units in year-ago period.

Exports during the month under review jumped 22 per cent to 1,58,888 vehicles from 1,30,236 vehicles in the year-ago period.
