Dame Helen Mirren has urged people in midlife to embrace exercise, saying it is “never too late” to make small changes that could transform their health.
The actress, 79, said they should not fear getting older but instead view ageing as something to be prepared for with optimism and practical action.
“Whatever you may think about ageing, it’s something we must all try to embrace rather than fear,” she said.
Mirren, pictured at the age of 62, said it was never too late to start exercising, “so why not give it a go while you’re younger?”

She said those in their fifties and early sixties should incorporate exercise into their daily lives, stressing that even modest activities such as walking or yoga could yield important benefits.
“It doesn’t have to be joining a gym. It can be small changes like taking a short walk or practising yoga, which I still enjoy,”
