Delhi Weather Forecast, 27 December: Delhi experienced heavy rainfall and lightning today as cold wave intensified in the national capital and its surrounding areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorms, hailstorms, and moderate rainfall across northwestern and central India on December 27 and 28 owing to an active western disturbance.

Temperature in Delhi stood at 13 degree Celsius at 7:23am as the weather department forecast heavy rain and strong winds for December 27th and 28th.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach 20 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius on Friday. Rain is predicted to continue for the next two days with intensified fog anticipated. Similar conditions are expected in Noida as well which witnessed early morning drizzle.

Delhi air quality remains ‘very poor’

Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) slightly improved on Thursday and is forecast to improve further on Friday. As per the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality of the national capital on Friday overall remains ‘very poor’.

On Tuesday, the Central Government’s air quality monitoring panel revoked Stage IV measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), following an improvement in air quality. Although measures under Stages I, II, and III will remain in effect.

What IMD said about cold wave in North India

The IMD issued warnings of hailstorms across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh on Friday. On December 27 and 28, Madhya Pradesh is likely to face similar conditions.

Temperatures are expected to decline by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in northern states as heavy snowfall is expected in the western Himalayan region on December 27th and 28th.
