CHANDIGARH: A man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover after he discovered their affair in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, police said. The accused, Ravina, a YouTuber, and her lover reportedly transported the victim’s body on a bike and dumped it in a drain outside the city in March.
Ravina, who has been arrested, was frequently involved in arguments with her husband, Praveen, over the videos and reels she posted on social media. The couple got married in 2017 and have a six-year-old son named Mukul.
Ravina, a resident of Joodi village in Rewari district, had married Praveen, a resident of Gujron Ki Dhani near the old bus stand in Bhiwani. Praveen worked as a driver at a sand and gravel shop and struggled with alcohol addiction. The couple often quarrelled over Ravina’s social media activity.
About a year and a half ago, Ravina reportedly developed a friendship with Suresh, a YouTuber from Premnagar village in Hisar district, through Instagram.
According to police, on March 25, Praveen allegedly caught Ravina and Suresh in a compromising position at their home in Bhiwani. A heated argument followed. Later that night, Ravina and her lover allegedly strangled Praveen to death.
To avoid suspicion, the duo transported Praveen’s body on a bike and dumped it in a drain on Dinod Road, outside the city. Three days later, during a search operation, the police and Praveen’s family recovered his decomposed body from the drain.
Investigators reviewed hundreds of CCTV clips from nearby localities. On the night of March 25, a suspicious bike was seen on camera near the family’s garden. Footage also showed a man wearing a helmet and Ravina later sitting on the same bike, with what appeared to be a body placed between them.
When Ravina was interrogated thoroughly, she confessed to the murder. She has been sent to judicial custody while police continue their search for her absconding lover, Suresh.
