An illicit relationship with the wife of a gang’s chief pushed the Nagpur underworld to edge, according to reports.

An illicit relationship of a gang member with his chief’s wife in Maharashtra’s Nagpur turned friends into foes and triggered a massive rift within the Ippa gang.
Arshad Topi, a gang member, fell in love with the chief’s wife, but unfortunately, she died in a road accident when the duo were out on a romantic two-wheeler ride on Thursday.
At least 40 members of the gang have fanned out across the city and Kamptee suburb to kill Topi, who snapped ties with the rest of the group to make the mafia’s wife his mistress, Times of India reported.
The leader of the gang is hell-bent on killing his friend-turned-foe as the gang believes that Topi may have killed the woman, and the accident may well have been a made-up story.
According to senior officials in the Nagpur Police, Topi was with the woman on a bike when a JCB hit them near Suradevi temple behind Koradi Mata temple. He sustained minor injuries; however, the woman sustained grave injuries, NDTV reported.
A patrol vehicle from the Koradi Thermal Plant rushed her to a private hospital, which refused to treat the woman. She was then shifted to another hospital in Kamptee, but it refused admission to her.
It is in this situation that Topi surfaced again and paid an ambulance driver to admit her to Nagpur’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Topi was seen with the woman in the CCTV footage at the hospital. She succumbed to her injuries on Friday. The news of her death sent ripples through the city’s underworld as the gang declared Topi a traitor and vowed to take him down, according to the report.
40 members of the pack have launched a massive manhunt for Topi to avenge the betrayal from one of their own.
“Sensing danger to his life, Topi rushed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)’s office in Pardi for protection on Friday. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the DCP sent him to the Koradi police station, where his statement was recorded,” NDTV quoted a police official as saying.
The police said that the initial investigation has suggested that the woman was killed in the accident, and no evidence has emerged to prove that Topi murdered him.
Topi has gone into hiding to save himself from the gang members’ wrath.
