Firefighter training camp for 99 recruits in Madurai ends

Madurai: The 141st firefighter basic training programme conducted by the Tamil Nadu fire and rescue services department concluded in Madurai on Tuesday. The training, held at the temporary training centre in Latha Mathavan Polytechnic College, Kidaripatti, was part of a state-wide initiative to induct 636 new personnel selected through the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board.In Madurai, 99 recruits underwent three months of training from April 2 to July 1. The programme included firefighting techniques, rescue operations, first aid, swimming, rope rescue, and scuba diving, along with special sessions by experts from police, electricity, medical, and yoga departments.At the closing ceremony, southern region deputy director K Rajeshkannan reviewed drills and physical efficiency drills performed by the trainees. He urged the new firefighters to serve with dedication. T Venkatraman, district fire officer, officials, and trainers from Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, and Sivaganga districts participated.
