Whale Swallows Man: The moment was captured in a terrifying video which showed the giant mammal swallowing Adrian Simancas before releasing him unharmed.
Adrian Simancas described the moment and said that he felt a slimy texture on his face when he turned around and saw the whale approaching from behind.
A humpback whale gobbled up a 24-year-old man who was kayaking with his father in Bahia El Aguila, Chile. The moment was captured in a terrifying video which showed the giant mammal swallowing Adrian Simancas before releasing him unharmed.
The incident took place near the San Isidro Lighthouse in the Strait of Magellan in Chile’s southernmost Patagonia region and the video- which was recorded by Adrian Simancas’s father Dell- was widely shared on social media.
Dell was on another kayak and he thought that the approaching whale was just “pretty waves.” But in the video, he can be seen trying to calm his son after the whale releases him within seconds. He is heard saying, “Stay calm, stay calm.”
Adrian Simancas described the moment and said that he felt a slimy texture on his face when he turned around and saw the whale approaching from behind before he was pulled underwater.
He said that in that moment he knew that there was nothing he could do and feared he was going to die.
“I thought it had already eaten me and swallowed me,” he said but then he soon felt his life vest pulling him back up. When asked if they would go kayaking again, both father and son said, “Of course.”
