Having seen two bids rejected earlier this summer, Chelsea have gone back in for Jamie Gittens for a third time … and third time has proven the charm, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly accepting our offer. Of course, it helps to have met their asking price. (Whether that asking price is reasonable is another question entirely, but we either had to pay up or shut up, and we’ve chosen to pay up).
Reported first by Fabrice Hawkins prior to our game yesterday, and then by many others afterwards, the two teams have struck a deal at €65m, which is quite a jump from our first rejected bid of €35m, and a marked increase from our second attempt at €50m as well. I guess we really, really wanted him for our left flank with Jadon Sancho not staying and Noni Madueke not quite getting it done.
❗️Chelsea will pay to Dortmund €65M for Jamie-Bynoe Gittens. Agreement 100% sealed. Contract until 2032 as revealed ✅

Gittens had agreed personal terms over a 7-year contract some time ago, and he’s now set for his medical (or it might be under way already). Dortmund play their Club World Cup Round of 16 match on Tuesday, but Gittens was already held out of their last group game (under the guise of “illness”).
