Mumbai, March 17 – Chinese mega-blockbuster Ne Zha 2 is showing no signs of slowing down and is continuing to score big at the China and global box office. The movie had already crossed $2 billion and now become the 5th biggest grosser ever worldwide.

Made on a budget of $80 million, the animated blockbuster has overtaken Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion) to climb the 5th spot among the all-time biggest grossers globally. The movie has grossed $2.08+ billion, including $2.05 billion in China alone through Sunday (March 16).

The sequel is projected to finish its box office run with $2.10 billion in the home market. No other movie has ever topped $1 billion in a single market before with The Force Awakens being the previous biggest ($936 million in North America).

James Cameron’s Avatar continues to be the number 1 film worldwide with $2.92 billion, followed by Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.32 billion) and Titanic ($2.25 billion) as the next three, respectively. Ne Zha 2 is expected to finish with its current ranking.
