Barcelona boss Hansi Flick reveals why he called up Ronald Araujo for Osasuna and offers Raphinha update

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has revealed why he opted to call up Ronald Araujo to his squad for Thursday’s game against Osasuna.

Flick had previously said that Araujo and Raphinha were out of the squad for the match due to their international commitments.

It was subsequently reported that Araujo had been eager to make the squad to show his commitment and Flick reveals what happened.

“We texted Araujo last night. He felt good and the medical staff gave us the green light to play him if necessary and it’s good to have him,” he told DAZN.

Flick also said he hopes to have Raphinha back on Sunday for the team’s game with Girona in La Liga.

“Raphinha played two days ago so he’s very tired but I think he’ll be ready for Sunday’s match,” he added.

The Barca boss also revealed what was most important for his players after a long with with their national teams: “Sleep. And rest. Psychology doesn’t matter because all players always want to play.”
