The highly-anticipated trailer of Himesh Reshammiya starrer Badass Ravi Kumar has finally been unveiled, and it has quickly taken social media by storm! This retro action musical is a grand homage to the golden era of Bollywood, delivering high-octane action, unforgettable characters, and a narrative steeped in the masala magic of the 80s. Himesh is all set to reprise his role of Ravi Kumar from Anant Mahadevan’s 2014 film The Xpose, in this film from the same universe.
This time, Ravi Kumar is back in an all-new action avatar, bringing his signature charm and wit to a larger-than-life setting. The trailer of Badass Ravi Kumar shows a chainsaw-wielding Himesh fighting the bad guys, much like Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal. He delivers some insane, massy and power-packed dialogues in the trailer that have garnered a lot of attention. The 3-minute 25-second trailer of Badass Ravi Kumar shows Prabhu Deva as the villain, and Kriti Kulhari as the female lead. Sunny Leone is seen in an item number in the film. Interestingly, the trailer also features a song ‘Tandoori Days’, which is a spin on Himesh’s popular song ‘Tandoori Nights’ from the film Karzzzz. The trailer brims with high-octane action, mesmerising songs , intense drama, and stylish sequences, perfectly capturing the magic of retro Bollywood – making it an unapologetically ‘80s type ki picture.’
The dialogues, written by Bunty Rathore, are a highlight of the film, amplifying the 80s nostalgia. The film showcases a powerhouse multi-starrer cast with characters that are as grand as the retro era itself. Prabhu Deva stuns as Carlos Pedro Panther, the larger-than-life antagonist whose menace and style steal the show. Kirti Kulhari shines as Laila, a dynamic and bold character. Meanwhile, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, Manish Wadhwa, Anil George, Rajesh Sharma, Prashant Narayan, Saurabh Sachdevaa, Sunny Leone also add another layer of intrigue to the film’s action-packed world. Simona is being introduced in the movie as Madhubala, who is one of the leads opposite Himesh in the film.
These characters, with their unforgettable names and well-defined personas, are a celebration of the vibrant storytelling of the 80s.
Directed by Keith Gomes and produced by Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, the film’s trailer has set the stage for its release on February 7, 2025 in cinemas.
