Parts of Mumbai woke up to season’s lowest temperatures on Monday, with Santacruz recording as low as 13.7 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a mainly clear sky during the day.

Various posts on social media platform X suggested the temperature today made December the coldest in Mumbai in the past six years.

Breaking the recent record of 16.5°C, the coolest morning for the season, set a few days ago.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Mumbai was recorded as ‘moderate’ on Monday, as the city saw a thin layer of smog.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the city recorded an AQI of 112, as of 9.00 am this morning.

AN AQI under the “moderate” category generally means the air quality is acceptable, but there may be a slight health concern for a very small number of sensitive individuals.

For most people, air quality at this level doesn’t pose significant risks, but those with respiratory issues, such as asthma or allergies, may experience mild symptoms.

The city which was shrouded by smog and mist, cleared up after sunrise.
