The day after actress Rupali Ganguly issued a defamation notice of Rs 50 crore against her stepdaughter, the latter took down all posts connected to the Anupamaa star from her social media and switched her Instagram account to ‘private.’ Although Esha has yet to respond to the defamation notice, she withdrew from the public eye on social media on Tuesday, going completely incognito.
Esha, the daughter of Rupali’s husband Ashish K Verma and his first wife, previously accused the Anupamaa actress of making threats against her and causing the breakup of her parents’ marriage. She had posted just one photo on her Instagram with Rupali and Ashish, referring to them as her “star-ents,” but she has since removed that picture.
In recent days, Esha had also posted various notes and updates on Instagram about Rupali and Ashish, but she has now removed all of them. Additionally, she has disabled the comments feature on all her Instagram posts.
For those unaware, Esha claimed that Rupali had an affair with her father, Ashish, during his marriage to her mother, Sapna. She went as far as to label Rupali and Ashish’s son as “illegitimate.” To add to these accusations, Esha also alleged that Rupali took her mother’s jewellery.
After a period of silence, Rupali issued a Rs 50 crore defamation notice to Esha on November 11. In the notice, Rupali claimed that Esha’s actions had “tarnished her reputation, undermined her dignity, and negatively affected her career, leading to significant financial losses.”
Rupali’s notice also demanded a public apology from Esha for involving her son in the controversy. She warned that if Esha did not issue an apology, she would be compelled to pursue further legal action.
