At the trailer launch of Dabba Cartel today, February 18, 2025, Shabana Azmi revealed that she tried to get co-star Jyothika fired from the show.

Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, Dabba Cartel is all to be released on February 28, 2025, on Netflix. Today, February 18, the grand trailer launch of the upcoming web series was held in Mumbai. The cast – Shabana Azmi, Gajraj Rao, Jyothika, Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Lillete Dubey, Anjali Anand, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta and Bhupendra Singh Jadawat – were all present. At the event, Shabana revealed a rather interesting story involving Jyothika.
The legendary actress told the media that she had tried to convince the makers to replace Jyothika in the show. However, she also said that she regretted later for doing this.
Shabana Azmi said on the stage at the trailer launch, “I have tried to remove two girls from this. One of them is Jyothika. She doesn’t know about this but I kept saying ‘yeh nahin usko lo.’ But these guys told me do what you want we won’t change her. I am really grateful now that she’s here. Truly. It was my mistake. It would have robbed me of the pleasure of working with you.”
Dabba Cartel revolves around a crucial and dangerous drug delivery operation. It follows the journey of five women working for a humble lunchbox delivery service. However, things take a wild turn when their seemingly simple business becomes tangled with crime, deceit, and danger. The trailer gives us a sneak peek into how these women, with no prior experience in the underworld, are thrown into the chaotic world of a dangerous drug cartel. The series takes place in the city suburbs of Thane.
