After securing a 4-1 win over England in the five-match T20I series, the Indian men’s cricket team will face the Jos Buttler-led side in a three-match ODI series. The three 50-over matches between India and Sri Lanka, which are scheduled to take place in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 12, respectively, will help both teams to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be played from February 19 to March 9 across three venues in Pakistan and one in Dubai.
Rohit Sharma, who was horribly out of form in the last three Test series, will lead the Men in Blue in the three ODIs. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Kuldeep Yadav are among the big players who are also back for the 50-over matches, but many top performers of the recently concluded T20I series will not be seen in action during India’s first ODI series of 2025.
Ahead of the start of the India-England ODI series, here’s a look at the complete list of changes in the Indian team for the 50-over matches from the T20I squad
OUT: Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Dhruv Jurel are 10 players from the T20I squad that will not feature in the ODI series against England. While Samson, Abhishek, Tilak, Surya, Bishnoi, and Chakaravarthy played all five matches of the shortest format series, Ramandeep didn’t get a chance to play any match. IN: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul are back in the Indian team for the ODI series after last playing in the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who last played for India in the first Test of the home series against New Zealand in October 2024, and Shreyas Iyer, whose last appearance for India was against Sri Lanka on August 7, 2024, are also part of the ODI squad.
