Jasprit Bumrah will not play for India in the three-match ODI series against England, which is set to start on February 6 in Nagpur. The 31-year-old fast bowler’s participation in the home series was doubtful due to a back injury. But he has been included in the 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar in Mumbai on Saturday, January 18.

Rohit Sharma will lead India in the home series, and Shubman Gill will be his deputy. Star fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who last played for India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final, is also included in the ODI squad, but there was no place for Karun Nair and Sanju Samson.

Karun made his case for selection in Team India by scoring 752 runs in seven matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Vidarbha, but despite that, he was not considered by the selectors, whereas Samson lost his place to Rishabh Pant once again.

Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, and Shubman Gill have retained their place in the side, but fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been dropped. Yashasvi Jaiswal has deservingly earned his maiden India ODI call-up for the home series.

Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja are three spin bowling all-rounders, and Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana are three pacers.
