Independent MP Pappu Yadav’s supporters carried out a protest on Ashok Rajpath in Patna calling for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam’s cancellation and re-examination.

A ‘Bihar Bandh’ has been called by Yadav, who is an independent MP from Purnea, today.

The supporters of Pappu Yadav were seen burning tyres and blocking roads as they called out for the cancellation of the BPSC exam.

The police detained some of the protesters who were taken away in a police van.

Reacting to Pappu Yadav’s call for ‘Bihar Bandh’, RJD MP Misa Bharti said, “Today, it is Sunday so already all the schools and colleges are closed…It is a democratic nation. Everyone has their rights. So they can do it (call for a Bandh).”

Since December last year, BPSC aspirants have been carrying out protests in Patna and demanding the cancellation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 which was held on December 13 by the BPSC over the allegations of question paper leaks.

Pappu Yadav has collaborated with Azad Party founder Chandrashekhar Azad and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on the BPSC Preliminary Exam issue and both of them have decided not to allow the House function from March 21.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday did not hear the plea which raised allegations of malpractices in the 70th BPSC Preliminary Exam held on December 13, 2024.

The petitioner was asked to reach out to the Patna High Court with the grievances by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justices Sanjay Kumar and KV Viswanathan.

It was further alleged that force was used by the Bihar police to take into control civil service aspirants who were demanding the BPSC exam’s cancellation.

A court on Monday granted ‘unconditional bail’ to Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor hours after he did not pay the bail bond.

After getting released from the jail, Kishor spoke to the protesting Bihar Public Service Commission aspirants and said, “There is no strength bigger than people’s strength.”

He said that he was taken to Beur jail by the police but they lacked the documents required to keep him behind the bar.

From January 2, Kishor was on fast-unto-death to protest against the BPSC irregularities and support the students who have been demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam.
