India’s smartphone market sees 7-8% growth after two-quarter slump

Market trackers unanimously observed a rebound in smartphone shipments in the June quarter, with shipments growing 7-8% on-year after a two-quarter slump, shipping around 37-38 million units. The rebound came as a result of an increase in new model launches across all price segments, along with increased channel margins and strong above-the-line marketing. That said, consumer demand remained subdued during the quarter, with rising average selling prices expected to limit annual recovery in shipments, analysts said.

Average selling prices (ASP) reached a record of $275 in Q2, growing 10.8% on-year.

The entry-level segment, which was declining, saw a strong 22.9% growth, claiming a 16% share, up from 14% a year ago.

The iPhone 16 was the highest-shipped model across India in H1 2025, making up 4% of overall India shipments during that period.

Shipments to offline channels grew by 14.3% YoY, and their share increased to 53.6%, while online channel shipments remained flat in Q2 2025.
