Mahindra says it will offer lifetime warranty on the battery inside both XEV 9e, BE 6e. This is applicable only for private registrations and first owners. For second-owners, the validity will be up to 10 years age of vehicle or 200,000 kms, whichever is earlier.

Mahindra claims that in the real world, an average range of around 500 kilometers can be achieved by the larger 79 kWh battery pack. The battery can be charged from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 20 minutes using 175 kW DC fast charger.

Mahindra says its latest EVs can cool the cabin 40% quicker than the time it takes any other comparable model. A large part of the credit is due to coating on all glasses in both XEV 9e, BE 6e which cut UV rays, as per company officials.

Here is a quick check on what has been revealed so far in the run-up to launch of Mahindra XEV 9e, BE 6e:

  • Mahindra XEV 9e cabin to get a triple-screen setup. There will be a dual screen setup inside Mahindra BE 6e.
  • The Mahindra XEV 9e is likely to get a bigger 79 kWh battery pack while the BE 6e will make do with a 59 kWh battery unit. The official/claimed range has not been revealed yet.
  • Both SUVs will come in multiple wheel sizes with the top variant of XEV 9e coming with a 20-inch set.
  • Both models are the first two to come out of the all-new INGLO platform.

The XEV 9e is the more premium of the two and will be the flagship all-electric Mahindra model. It could be priced somewhere between 40 lakhs and 50 lakhs (ex-showroom) and as such, may not have a direct rival.

The Mahindra BE 6e is likely to rival MG ZS EV and may be priced at around 24 lakhs (ex-showroom). Therefore, for anyone wondering if either of the two models will take on any offerings from Tata Motors, well, that is unlikely at present.

But Mahindra will roll out more EV offerings in the times to come so the competition in the mass-market segment could see a whole lot of action.

Both models get a massive panoramic sunroof, a nearly squared steering wheel with what appear to be haptic buttons and an illuminated ‘BE’ logo. The steering wheel also gets toggle buttons as well as ADAS aids on the right side. The paddle shifters are also visible for regen duties.

Both SUVs sport different gear shift levers on the centre console, while the XEV 9e sports a third screen for the front seat passenger.

While the production version of either of the two cars have not yet been revealed, sketches and spy shots have confirmed several key details. Mahindra XEV 9e will come with a connected LED lightbar at the front along with a vertical light system. It will also sport a closed grille and a swooping bonnet with the new Mahindra EV logo.

The BE 6e will get XUV 3XO-inspired light system at the front.

China is the world’s largest EV market, followed by the United States and Europe as a whole. These three regions accounted for 95 per cent of all EV sales in 2023, as per International Energy Agency.

Factors powering the rise in demand for EVs in these regions range from available options to cost-effective models, strong support infrastructure and incentives rolled out by local/national governments.
