Aryan Khan, one of the main accused persons in the Howrah porn torture case, was arrested, the West Bengal Police said on Wednesday. However, his mother, who is another accused in the matter, is still on the run.
The development comes days after a horrific case surfaced in the state, where a woman was allegedly confined in a flat for six months by the mother-son duo, and thrashed with rods and sexually assaulted after the victim refused to shoot porn videos and work as a bar dancer. They had been absconding since the matter came to the fore, however, the son was arrested today, while the mother still remains at large.
The victim is battling for her life at a hospital.
BJP Had Alleged Link Between Accused Woman And TMC
Notably, Union Minister and state BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar on Tuesday alleged that the accused woman in the case was linked to the ruling TMC.
He shared the pictures of Shweta Khan with TMC leader Rajib Banerjee and West Bengal Minister Arup Roy, and alleged that they are “closely linked”.
“In this case, one of the prime accused, Shweta Khan, is absconding — and is closely linked to @AITCofficial leader Rajib Banerjee and West Bengal Minister Arup Roy. They have been running such a criminal racket for years, but the Howrah Police Commissionerate — loyal and sycophantic to the Chief Minister — claims to know nothing! And now, the mother and son are on the run, while the police remain completely incapable of catching them. Shame,” Majumdar posted on X.
Police Say Accused ‘Soft Porn’ Film Production House
The Howrah Police earlier said that they were investigating whether the mother-son duo ran a pornography film racket.
“The accused woman and her son are absconding, and a search for them has been launched. We are trying to probe whether they were running any pornography film racket in the guise of running an event management agency,” news agency PTI quoted the police as saying.
“Initial probe has revealed that they used to lure young girls looking for employment under the pretext of a good salary and then force them to take part in films with pornographic content,” they added.
