Deepika Padukone neglected her own health after baby Dua’s arrival, reveals Ranveer Singh. ‘Everything is secondary’

Actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, who married in November 2018, have consistently exemplified a partnership rooted in mutual respect, open communication, and shared values. In a heartfelt recent interview, Deepika opened up about her journey toward motherhood and revealed how Ranveer has been a pillar of emotional and practical support throughout. She shared that when it came to deciding when to start a family, Ranveer made it clear that she should take the lead, emphasizing that the choice should be entirely hers.

Ranveer, she explained, encouraged her to make the final call on when to embrace motherhood. “He said, ‘It’s your body. Yes, we’ll make the decision together, but ultimately it’s your body that will experience the change. So whenever you’re ready, that’s when we’ll do it,’” Deepika recalled in her conversation with Marie Claire. This compassionate stance, she noted, reflected his deep understanding of her autonomy and his unwavering support as a husband.

She also acknowledged that while many women face immense societal pressure about having children, her status as a prominent public figure shielded her from much of that scrutiny. Still, she didn’t take that privilege for granted and praised Ranveer for embodying what she believes are the values of an ideal partner—one who uplifts, respects, and defers to his wife in matters that affect her most intimately.

The couple recently welcomed their daughter and named her Dua—a name they lovingly settled on after much thought. Deepika shared that choosing a name wasn’t their top priority immediately after the birth. “We just wanted to hold her, let her explore her new world, and begin to show who she is,” she said. After about two months, the name ‘Dua’ came to Deepika spontaneously. She texted Ranveer—who was away on a shoot—about the name in the middle of the night. He embraced the idea instantly. “It felt like the perfect reflection of everything she represents to us—our prayer, our gift, our answer,” she explained.
Ranveer, for his part, has been deeply moved by Deepika’s transformation into motherhood. He told the publication, “This is the most beautiful version of Deepika I have ever known. As the saying goes, ‘The way you do one thing is the way you do everything,’ and she truly lives that. As a mother, she is wholly engaged—gentle, nurturing, attentive, and incredibly present.”

He added that since becoming a mom, Deepika has centered her life entirely around Dua. .“Everything in Deepika’s life now revolves around Dua. Everything else comes secondary, sometimes even her own health,” he said. Deepika admitted that balancing her career, health, and new responsibilities is a learning curve, but she’s growing into it with grace.
Professionally, the couple was last seen together in Singham Again and have previously collaborated on acclaimed films like 83, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, continuing to mirror their strong real-life chemistry on screen.

Deepika Padukone’s journey in Bollywood

Deepika Padukone, who moved to Mumbai at the age of 18, reflected on her journey in the film industry during a conversation with Shah Rukh Khan at the inaugural WAVES Summit. Now 39, she looked back at her early days in the city and acknowledged how far she has come—from navigating life through trial and error to becoming a prominent name in Bollywood.

She began her career as a model before making a successful transition into acting with her debut in Om Shanti Om alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2007. Speaking at the event, she shared that while she doesn’t often pause to celebrate milestones, she recognizes the growth and accomplishments she has achieved over the years.

Despite her fame, Deepika maintains a grounded routine in her personal life. During her downtime, she enjoys taking care of household tasks such as sorting mail, cleaning the kitchen, checking the weekly vegetable supply, and doing laundry. These habits, she said, are rooted in her modest beginnings, when she managed without the help of a large house or staff.
